Is the sequel canceled, or there is a word in this regard?

The journey of a movie to franchise takes a lot of planning, and there is no reason to believe that the producers wouldn’t have thought about it. There are a plethora of factors that make the journey of a movie to a franchise. Apart from the fan following and the demand for a sequel, there are other factors too which shape the future of a movie. There are commercial aspects which is one of the core reasons which makes the sequel possible.

Although the commercial aspect can’t be a case over here as the movie grossed well on the box office, and if we calculate the global earnings, it made a whopping $540 million. So this couldn’t be a potent reason for not making a sequel. Brad Pitt was in the lead role, and his availability could be one of the reasons for not being able to give continuation to the movie. There are prior commitments of both the production team members and the cast, so unless there isn’t sync between them, it’s tough to imagine that the movie is going to return for a sequel.

The movie was once set to kickstart in 2018, but Brad Pitt’s prior commitments changed a thing for the movie’s future. Brad Pitt had already signed Once upon a time in Hollywood by then, and then there was no chance to return for the sequel. So this was the last known attempt to make the sequel.
