Was the latest haircut by Maya Hawke a tribute to one of her mother’s famous movie roles? Fans believe it!
The photo shows Hawke sitting on a stool in the kitchen as her mother tends to her tresses. The 21-year-old already had short strands but the end product of her at-home trim appears to be a sleek, chin-length bob that resembles Thurman’s blunt look sported in the film “Pulp Fiction” in the 1990s.
Thurman played a crime boss’s wife Mia Wallace and ended up winning a nomination for the Academy Award to best support actress for her role.
Thurman’s followers of Instagram were quick to suggest that the new cut was a case of life imitating art. @vale.gmarchant wrote “Pulp fiction style,” while @iisallen commented: “Mia Wallace had a kid.” Others applauded Thurman for her unsung styling skills.
“Good break! Maybe new trade?” wrote @dragon Scorpio. Instagram user @lukerhar78 put in another film reference from Thurman, commenting: “You do what you did to Bill to that hair-you ruin it, Uma.
Mother and daughter appear to spend a lot of quality time together doing social distance at home. Hawke shared a picture of herself earlier this month, and Thurman wearing matching baseball caps.
Many other celebrities also tried their hair styling hand whilst quarantining at home. “Traditional Family” star Sofia Vergara gave the “right” trim to her niece Claudia Vergara and showed off on Instagram her handiwork.
“All My Children” actress Susan Lucci recently cut her bangs, a procedure she said, “helps keep my hands out of my hair.” After indulging in a few cocktails, Pink, who’s no stranger to strand notifications, ended up giving herself a DIY trim.
Keep on with those quarantine cuts, please! And keep this quarantine family spirit on.
