As far the season 10 goes on, the survivors had been dealing with the horrific display of the power of Whispers. They had been obeying the new borders which were imposed on them and continued to organize a fighting force of militia style and were preparing for the unavoidable battle they would face. With the tension of having Whisperer war ahead of them, they have to band up in unison and fight as well as a sacrifice to put an end to the whisperers. Danai Gurira who had been portraying as Michonne since season 3, confirmed that this will be her last season to work on and had only signed for the recurring role during the season.

AMC announced on 24th October 2020 that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the season finale has been postponed. There will be a return of Maggie in the season finale. AMC had announced that there will be upgradation of the Walking Dead for the 11th season on 5th October 2019. It was announced just before the premiere of 10th season but it was reported on March 2020 that pre-production has been put to a halt and the filming has been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
