A new series from high school music director Kenny Ortega is coming to Netflix – and if the first signs are anything to do, the series seems to offer an equal amount of colourful characters and captivating melodies. Julie and Phantom focus on a girl who rediscovers her love of music in an unconventional way and also presents choreographer Paul Baker.

The series is Now currently slated for release on Netflix Platform on Thursday 10 September and will include nine half-hour episodes.

Netflix explained the show as “a delightful and inspiring new musical series about embracing the ups and downs of life, following your dreams and discovering the power of your own voice”. Follows Julie, a high school student whose love for music has recently become boring after her mother’s tragic death, and her journey to relive that passion while in her mother’s old recording studio Find the ghosts of three young musicians. The series is expected to feature several new songs and dance routines, and will undoubtedly be a hit or two.
