This is one of those things that I think people don’t quite get, but the fact is that the entire point of a scsi command is to tell the device what the state is. The scsi command “status” is an example. It is the command that tells the computer what its current state is. It is the command that tells the computer that it is in a particular state. These two states are scsi busy and scsi idle.
